History

1992 Bank commences operations under the name Royal Banka CS, a.s.
1995 Bank’s name is changed to Prvni mestska banka, a.s.
City of Prague becomes majority shareholder with a 67% stake.
The bank focused primarily on servicing the city of Prague and other municipalities in the Czech Republic.
1997 – 1999 Losses of CZK 80 million, CZK 544.5 million and 126.5 million are reported for 1997, 1998 and 1999, respectively.
2000 – 2001 Bank’s financial situation is stabilized after three years of losses as reserves are created for classified loans and illiquid securities – the result of imprudent lending between 1993 and 1997.
Bank reports profits of CZK 7.6 million and CZK 20.5 million in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
Bank searches actively for a strategic investor.
21.5.2002 Ceska pojistovna becomes a new strategic investor.
2003 Bank reports a profit of CZK 600 million, driven by a one-off gain.
1.9.2004 Bank’s name is changed to PPF banka a.s.
1.9.2005 In line with the overall strategy of PPF Group, PPF banka becomes one of the three shared-services companies for PPF Group.
